In previous blogs, we have talked about the importance of maintaining the hvac system and improving the indoor air quality. Indoor air pollution can occur when any air handling systems have bacteria or mold inside. Legionnaire’s disease is a form of respiratory infection and also a form of pneumonia.  According to ccohs.ca, “The name Legionnaire disease was coined in 1976 after a respiratory disease affected many delegates attending a convention in Philadelphia held by the American Legion of Pennsylvania.” Some of the symptoms associated with these disease are as followed:

  • Chest Pain
  • Headache
  • Muscle Aches and stiffness
  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal Pain

Not many know that there is bacteria that can be found in hvac system’s and cause a severe health effect. Any bacteria that is bad for the health of individuals is going to quickly spread throughout the building. Legionella can be found in the cooling towers and in the large central air conditioning system. Maintaining the HVAC system can reduce the risk of spreading bacteria and protect the health of others. At AirTek we understand how important the health of others is and we offer commercial air duct cleaning and indoor air quality services to maintain the HVAC systems for several industries.
